Noncommutative Cultural Dynamics: A Unified State-Space Framework for Weakly and Strongly Correlated Cultural Fields

Oct 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

This work proposes a unified mathematical framework for cultural dynamics that integrates state-space modeling, noncommutative transition operators, correlation structures, and generational modes. The model distinguishes between weakly correlated cultural fields—typical of ancient and pre-modern societies—and strongly correlated cultural fields that characterize modern media-saturated environments. Cultural states are represented as latent vectors whose evolution is governed by internal couplings, external media inputs, disturbances such as saturation or fatigue, and order-dependent transitions. The framework is extended to network-based cultural diffusion using graph Laplacians, spatial cultural propagation via partial differential equations, and AI-based implementations including neural ODEs, graph neural networks, physics-informed neural networks, and diffusion models for cultural or narrative generation. Additional appendices develop optimal control formulations for policy intervention, evolutionary game-theoretic dynamics, general-equilibrium economic integration, and a quantized operator formulation inspired by noncommutative geometry. Together, these components form a comprehensive “Unified Cultural Field Theory” capable of describing cultural change from antiquity to the digital era, modeling media-driven cultural synchronization, forecasting trend evolution, and supporting applications in cultural analytics, media studies, apparel demand prediction, and AI-driven narrative generation.
