Abstract
Obstacle avoidance for autonomous quadrotors in cluttered environments remains challenging, especially when both dense static obstacles and moving obstacles are present. Existing methods are often tailored to either static or dynamic settings, which always limit their adaptability across diverse environments. This paper presents TransNav, a transformer-based end-to-end navigation method for quadrotor obstacle avoidance in both static and dynamic environments. TransNav employs a patch-based point-cloud encoding scheme that combines local feature extraction with global contextual modeling, enabling compact yet informative environment representation. The method integrates perception and navigation in a single architecture and directly predicts a finite-horizon action sequence, from which the first action is executed. Moreover, we develop an unsupervised learning strategy by incorporating a lightweight point-mass dynamics model, which directly optimizes trajectory-level costs over the predicted sequence through numerical gradient propagation. Thus, the policy can be efficiently trained without expert demonstrations. Simulation and real-world experiments show that the proposed method achieves strong performance in dense static environments and competitive obstacle-avoidance capability in dynamic scenarios, while maintaining low inference cost for onboard deployment.
Navigation in cluttered environments with dynamic obstacles remains a major challenge for uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs), especially when both fast response and reliable trajectory generation are required. Traditional modular planners suffer from the latency introduced by mapping and iterative optimization, whereas en...

Reliable obstacle avoidance is essential for safe quadrotor flight in unknown environments, yet conventional frame-based cameras remain challenged by motion blur, limited dynamic range, and latency under fast motion. Event cameras, with sub-millisecond latency, high dynamic range, and negligible motion blur, offer a pr...

Local navigation in dynamic indoor environments is challenging, as a single 2-D LiDAR scan contains no obstacle motion information, and control commands must satisfy the robot’s velocity and acceleration constraints. This paper proposes ST-DRL, a value-based local planner combining a lightweight temporal Transformer en...

ACR-Nav is introduced, an action-conditioned range navigation framework that converts scalar-range evolution into closed-loop progress information and can support goal-directed, segment-level navigation within locally straight corridor passages without exposing robot pose or target bearing to the policy.
We present a learning-based approach to kinodynamic online motion planning for an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operating at a fixed altitude in unknown dynamic environments, where real-time avoidance of both static and dynamic obstacles must be achieved under conditions of extreme partial observability. The UAV is con...
