A self-supervised model that integrates a time-frequency decoupled (TF-D) stem with masked latent reconstruction with the strongest overall transfer results among the internal variants and a competitive balance among representation quality, encoder scale, and inference efficiency is proposed.
Abstract
Self-supervised learning (SSL) provides an effective way to obtain transferable representations from unlabeled audio. Existing spectrogram-based teacher-student methods mainly emphasize cross-view consistency and insufficiently model the distinct temporal/frequency structure and local acoustic information. This paper proposes a self-supervised model that integrates a time-frequency decoupled (TF-D) stem with masked latent reconstruction. The stem separately refines temporal variations and spectral correlations before patch embedding, while the masked branch predicts continuous, stop-gradient teacher features to complement global predictive self-distillation with a local constraint. The model is pre-trained from scratch on AudioSet-20K and evaluated on five downstream tasks using frozen encoders. It achieves 0.336 mean average precision (mAP) on AudioSet-20K, a 20.4% relative improvement over the internal ATST-S baseline, and accuracies of 84.48%, 98.1%, 74.1%, and 89.7% on UrbanSound8K, Speech Commands V2, VoxCeleb1, and NSynth, respectively. The full model gives the strongest overall transfer results among the internal variants and a competitive balance among representation quality, encoder scale, and inference efficiency.
Across ResNet12 and Conv64 in 5-way 1-shot and 5-shot evaluation, SAMPLESELECT gives the best OOD accuracy among the compared methods and improves the matched full-representation control by 4.90-8.38 percentage points.

Prior audio-visual self-supervised learning methods rely on mechanisms such as EMA target encoders, prediction heads, reconstruction decoders, and contrastive losses. We introduce LeAVJEPA, the first audio-visual encoder trained under LeJEPA's collapse-free objective. A single early-fusion Vision Transformer processes...

Self-supervised learning (SSL) is standard for speech representation learning, but mainstream models are designed around single-speaker audio, limiting their usefulness in multi-speakers scenarios. We present SepRQ, an open-source SSL framework that replaces masked prediction with a pseudo-source-separation objective o...

DINO-A is presented, an adaptation of self-distillation from vision to general audio representation learning, and it is traced to two mechanisms: the interaction between DINO's high-dimensional projection space and FSD50K's limited scale, and the additional cost of multi-crop augmentation, which DINO uses but BYOL-A v2...
