Abstract
Accessing large collections of 360° videos in virtual reality (VR) is still largely based on conventional 2D grid interfaces, which only partially exploit immersive affordances. While prior work has focused on improving representations of individual items, less attention has been given to how entire collections can be organized for effective media access and retrieval. We investigate how metaphor-driven 3D interface designs influence exploratory retrieval in immersive video libraries. Three spatial interfaces—a video store, a record store, and an abstract memory-inspired environment—are evaluated in a within-subject study (N=19) using a time-constrained playlist creation task. Results show that structured environments support more efficient selection, while abstract designs increase engagement but introduce interaction overhead. These findings highlight a trade-off between efficient retrieval and exploratory engagement and inform the design of future immersive multimedia retrieval systems.
Primary participant-level analyses show that display count is the dominant factor, severely degrading performance and increasing workload, and layout effects are secondary but become critical under high density, where spherical and stacked arrangements introduce significant performance and physical trade-offs.

Accessible interaction in immersive virtual environments remains largely constrained by visually driven design paradigms, limiting meaningful engagement for users with visual impairments. Existing approaches to VR accessibility often rely on application-specific adaptations, low-level sensory cues, or vision-centered a...

Instructional videos are widely used, yet their limited interactivity often leads to passive viewing. Embedding Virtual Reality (VR) as a form of generative practice, in which learners actively create content such as drawings or visual representations, offers a promising solution to foster deeper cognitive processing...
Interactive visual interfaces have become an important means of controlling generative image models, enabling users to manipulate generation through prompts, direct manipulation, and a range of interactions. However, existing techniques are typically presented as independent systems, making it difficult to understand h...
