Differential expression results for behavioural profile and mitochondrial lineage in Salamandra salamandra larvae

Sep 2026 · Figshare

Abstract

This dataset contains the complete annotated differential-expression results used in the study “Transcriptomic correlates of dispersal-related behavioural profiles in Salamandra salamandra larvae across a mitochondrial contact zone”.Differential expression was analysed at the Corset-cluster level using RNA-seq data from ten Salamandra salamandra larvae classified by mitochondrial lineage and behavioural profile. The file includes the results for both contrasts analysed in the study: behavioural profile (fast vs slow) and mitochondrial lineage (northern vs southern). For each Corset cluster, the dataset reports differential-expression statistics together with available functional annotation, including protein descriptions and functional-category assignments where available. Both shrunken and unshrunken log2 fold-change estimates are included. The behavioural contrast identified 403 differentially expressed clusters, whereas the unfiltered mitochondrial-lineage contrast identified 589. Clusters of mitochondrial origin were subsequently excluded from biological interpretation of the lineage contrast because sequence divergence from the single de novo reference may affect mapping efficiency. After this exclusion, 374 lineage-associated clusters remained for biological interpretation. This dataset corresponds to Supplementary Datafile 1 of the associated manuscript.
