Abstract
This research agenda traces Yanyang Zhao's thinking from practical difficulties in sustained work with AI to questions about externalized experience, professional identity, functional continuity, and authority.WSEOM—What Should Exist Outside the Model?—examines how state, computation, judgment, experience, verification, and authority should be allocated across the model boundary. It also describes connections to exploration and path dependence, persistent task execution, human cognitive continuity, scientific discovery, production, and generative worlds, without collapsing these into a single research claim.Version 0.3 updates the empirical discussion using the submitted P1 manuscript and the P0 full-paper candidate. The agenda distinguishes observed results from planned studies and longer-term possibilities. It is a personal account and research program, not a literature review or a claim that the broader program has already been validated. This record includes the English edition and the original Chinese text of the same research agenda. The English edition is displayed by default. This is the first public release of the agenda. The attached PDFs retain the internal version number v0.3, preserving the manuscript’s development prior to publication.
The method, ECCOLA, is presented, which aims at making the high-level AI ethics principles more practical, making it possible for developers to more easily implement them in practice.
