Abstract
This article provides a beginner-friendly introduction to Machine Learning and explains how artificial intelligence systems learn patterns from data. It discusses the role of data, the training process, and the main approaches to machine learning, including supervised learning, unsupervised learning, and reinforcement learning. The article also introduces neural networks, generative AI, and some important limitations of machine learning systems. Written from the perspective of a recently graduated high school student beginning her journey in Computer Science, this article aims to make the basic concepts of machine learning easier to understand while encouraging further exploration of Artificial Intelligence and its applications.
The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.
