Replication package: national internet diffusion stages and individual digital dependence - two-level framework and COVID-19 stress test

Sep 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

Data, code, and outputs to reproduce all statistics in a two-level study of digital dependence: (1) population level - constrained logistic S-curve fits of national internet penetration 1990-2019 for 217 economies, stage metrics (DII/SWRE/DEI), a COVID-19 difference-in-differences stress test with permutation and interrupted-trend inference, panel fixed effects, OLS and machine-learning models, spatial autocorrelation, instrumental variables, system GMM, and scenario extrapolations; (2) individual level - reliability, confirmatory factor analysis, dose-response, ROC, common-method-variance check, item network analysis, and a pandemic-item exclusion robustness analysis of a digital-dependence screening battery in a Chinese university-student survey (1,498 raw / 953 valid). Manuscript text and figures are excluded during peer review. Code: Python 3.12; fixed random seeds; deterministic reproduction. Supersedes the initial deposit of August 2026.
