Despite growing industry investment in AI-powered rewards architectures, personalised incentive engines, and gamified engagement mechanics, the empirical literature on the psychological mechanisms through which SLPs drive consumer retention on e-commerce platforms remains fragmented. This study develops and tests a comprehensive structural model integrating SLP attributes (AI personalisation, gamification, tier-based exclusivity, real-time redemption, and social referral rewards) with four established consumer retention antecedents (emotional loyalty, cognitive loyalty, switching cost perception, and program satisfaction) to explain three retention outcomes (repurchase intention, platform stickiness, and customer lifetime value orientation). A structured questionnaire was administered to 456 active loyalty program members across five major Indian e-commerce platforms (Amazon India, Flipkart, Myntra, Nykaa, and BigBasket). Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using AMOS 25.0 with Maximum Likelihood Estimation was employed. Results demonstrate that AI Personalisation (β=0.431, p<0.001) and Gamification Engagement (β=0.398, p<0.001) are the strongest SLP drivers of emotional loyalty, which in turn exerts the highest impact on repurchase intention (β=0.523, p<0.001) and platform stickiness (β=0.487, p<0.001). Switching cost perception significantly moderates the program satisfaction–retention relationship. The integrated model explains 73.8% variance in repurchase intention. Consumer demographics—particularly age, income tier, and digital shopping frequency—significantly moderate SLP engagement patterns. The study advances loyalty marketing theory and provides actionable intelligence for e-commerce platform managers seeking to maximise loyalty program ROI and long-term customer equity.
