Genre-Routed Generative Resonance: Black-Box AI Text Detection via Dual-Horizon Probing and Structural Rhythm

Abstract

Detecting text synthesized by frontier large language models (LLMs) remains a critical requirement for academic integrity, digital forensics, and media authenticity. Existing zero-shot detectors exhibit severe real-world failure modes: token-curvature methods (DetectGPT, Fast-DetectGPT) require inaccessible white-box model logits, while perplexity baselines disproportionately penalize non-native English writers. In our earlier investigations, single-branch cloze infilling collapsed when scaled to open-domain environments due to the Reasoning Prober Paradox, genre-dependent predictability asymmetry, the 1-word compound noun trap, and the brittleness of punctuation stylometry.
