Ionotropic glutamate receptor expression and function in the Drosophila testis stem cell niche

It is reported that seven transgenic ionotropic glutamate receptor (iGluR) subunit reporter lines are variably expressed in hub cells of the Drosophila testis stem cell niche, suggesting a novel form of inter-organ communication for this tissue.

Flexible use of conserved motifs constrains genome access in cell type evolution

This work proposes a 'collective maintenance' model in which motif vocabularies defining cell type families are evolutionarily stable, while recombination of these motifs generates cell type-specific regulatory programmes.
