Sep 2026 · Focus on Health Professional Education A Multi-Professional Journal · 0 citations

Abstract

Introduction: Feedback during clinical placement is critical to student learning and development. Limited studies have explored paramedicine students’ experiences of feedback during clinical placement. The purpose of this review was to identify a suitable tool to explore undergraduate health professional students’ experiences of feedback during clinical placement for use in the discipline of paramedicine. Method: Prospectively registered with Prospero, this rapid review of CINAHL, MEDLINE and PROQUEST (Nursing and Health Sciences) databases was undertaken to identify studies reporting the psychometric properties of tools to measure health professional students’ experiences of feedback. Title, abstract and full-text screening, data extraction and quality appraisal were undertaken by three reviewers. The COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) Risk of Bias checklist was used to assess the quality of each study and reported measurement properties. Results: Six studies met inclusion criteria with varied reporting of the measurement properties assessed during the development of the tool. Conclusion: The FEEDME Provider instrument was identified as the most suitable tool in this review to explore health professional students’ experiences of feedback during clinical placement. More research is needed to apply this tool across different health disciplines.
