Abstract
This study analyzed the epidemiological profile and temporal trend of hospitalizations for malignant skin neoplasms in Brazil between 2015 and 2025, based on secondary data from the Hospital Information System of the Unified Health System (SIH/SUS). A total of 633,457 hospitalizations were recorded during the period, with a predominance of male sex (51.9%), self-declared White individuals (65.8%), and the age group of 60 years or older (72.3%). The Southeast and South regions concentrated the highest number of hospitalizations, while the North region presented the highest mortality rate (4.70%). A general upward trend was observed throughout the historical series, with a reduction in 2020 and a progressive recovery in subsequent years. Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of hospital admissions due to measles in Brazil from 2020 to 2025. Methods: This was an ecological, descriptive, retrospective study based on secondary data from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), available through DATASUS/TABNET. Hospital admissions, deaths, and mortality rates were analyzed according to year, geographic region, sex, race/ethnicity, and age group, considering measles as the primary diagnosis (ICD-10 B05). Results: A total of 940 hospital admissions and eight deaths were recorded during the study period. A marked reduction in hospital admissions was observed between 2020 and 2023, followed by a slight increase in 2024 and 2025. The North region accounted for the highest proportion of hospitalizations (58.62%), while children under 1 year of age had the highest number of admissions, followed by those aged 1 to 4 years. The highest proportional mortality was observed among individuals aged 80 years or older. Hospitalizations were similarly distributed between sexes, with a predominance of the brown race/ethnicity category among records with available information. Conclusion: Measles-related hospital admissions decreased substantially during the study period; however, the persistence of hospitalizations and the increase observed in recent years highlight the need to maintain high vaccination coverage, continuous epidemiological surveillance, timely diagnosis, and ongoing training of healthcare professionals to prevent viral reintroduction and sustained transmission in Brazil.

Yellow fever is an acute infectious disease of public health importance, with potential progression to severe disease and death. In Brazil, transmission occurs predominantly through the sylvatic cycle and is influenced by viral circulation, vectors and non-human primates, environmental conditions, and vaccination coverage. This study aimed to analyze the epidemiological profile of yellow fever hospitalizations in Brazil between 2020 and 2025. An ecological, descriptive, retrospective epidemiological study was conducted using secondary data from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), obtained through DATASUS/TABNET, using ICD-10 category A95. Hospitalizations, deaths, and hospital mortality rates were analyzed according to year, geographic region, sex, age group, and race/skin color. A total of 354 hospitalizations and 13 deaths were identified during the study period, with a reduction in records between 2020 and 2023, followed by a marked increase in 2024 and 2025. The highest number of hospitalizations occurred in 2025 (134), while the Northeast region had the highest cumulative number of records (135). Males accounted for 60.7% of hospitalizations, individuals classified as brown for 69.2%, and the 20–29-year age group had the highest number of hospitalizations (43). The highest hospital mortality rate occurred in 2025 (6.72%). The findings demonstrate substantial temporal, regional, and sociodemographic heterogeneity, highlighting the need to strengthen vaccination, epidemiological surveillance, and healthcare professional training.

Introduction: Schistosomiasis is an important health problem in Brazil, with a heterogeneous distribution and persistence of endemic areas, particularly in regions associated with unfavorable socio-environmental conditions. Objective: To analyze the epidemiological profile of hospitalizations due to schistosomiasis in Brazil between 2020 and 2025. Methods: This was an ecological study based on secondary data from the Hospital Information System of the Brazilian Unified Health System (SIH/SUS), made available by DATASUS through the TABNET platform. Hospitalizations, deaths, and mortality rates due to schistosomiasis were analyzed according to region, sex, age group, and race/skin color. Results: A total of 795 hospitalizations and 36 deaths due to schistosomiasis were recorded in Brazil, corresponding to an overall hospital mortality rate of 4.53%. The Northeast region accounted for the highest number of hospitalizations (433; 54.47%) and deaths (31; 86.11%), as well as the highest mortality rate (7.16%). Hospitalizations were more frequent among males, whereas the hospital mortality rate was higher among females. The 20–59-year age group had the highest number of hospitalizations, while individuals aged 60 years or older had the highest mortality rate (9.71%). The brown/mixed-race population accounted for the highest number of hospitalizations and deaths. Conclusion: Schistosomiasis remains associated with significant hospital morbidity and mortality in Brazil, with a greater concentration of events in the Northeast region and higher hospital mortality among older adults and females. These findings reinforce the need to strengthen epidemiological surveillance, timely diagnosis and treatment, and environmental and sanitation control measures, particularly in endemic areas.

Abstract Objective: To analyze the trend and pattern of psychiatric hospitalizations among women aged 15 to 49 in Brazil, from 2012 to 2022, characterizing hospitalizations by macro-region, age group, race/skin color and reason for hospitalization. Methods: This is a time series analysis with data obtained from the Brazilian Unified Health System Department of Information Technology Hospital Morbidity System. The temporal trend of hospitalization rates was assessed using the Joinpoint Regression program, taking a 95% confidence interval (95%CI). Results: During the period, 677,608 psychiatric hospitalizations were recorded among women of childbearing age, corresponding to an average annual rate of 113 hospitalizations per 100,000 women. Between 2012 and 2016, an annual decrease of 5.1% in hospitalization rates was observed. The highest rates were identified in the Southern region (236.2/100,000), followed by the Northeast (169.9/100,000) and the Midwest (129.5/100,000). The 15-19 age group showed a significant upward trend, with an annual increase of 10.8% between 2015 and 2022. There was a significant increase in hospitalizations among women of Asian, mixed-race and Indigenous race/skin color, with 4.9% annual change between 2016 and 2022. The main reasons for hospitalization were mood disorders (38.1%) and schizophrenia, schizotypal disorders and delusional disorders (28.9%). Conclusion: There was an overall trend towards a decrease in psychiatric hospitalization rates, although there was an increase among younger women. Regional and racial disparities suggest difficulties in access to and continuity of mental health care. The predominance of psychotic disorders highlights gaps in care and the need for strategies focused on women’s mental health.
