Abstract

Human Resource Analytics (HRA) has emerged as a critical strategic tool enabling organizations to transition from intuition-driven human resource management to evidence-based decision-making. This study provides a structured narrative review of the conceptual foundations, adoption, and strategic integration of HR analytics in contemporary organizations. Drawing on peer-reviewed literature from 2017 to 2025, the study synthesizes key analytical approaches—descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, and prescriptive—and evaluates their application across core HR functions, including talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, and employee engagement. The findings indicate that organizations leveraging human resource analytics achieve improved decision quality, enhanced employee outcomes, and stronger alignment between human capital and organizational strategy. However, persistent barriers include fragmented data architectures, analytical capability gaps, ethical and privacy concerns, and cultural resistance to data-driven decision-making. The review also evidences the accelerating integration of artificial intelligence and machine learning in HR processes across global firms. The study concludes that successful HRA implementation requires robust data governance, cross-functional integration, and capability building, alongside ethical oversight. The paper contributes by offering a consolidated, theory-informed synthesis that integrates recent developments, implementation challenges, and strategic applications of HR analytics in contemporary organizations, alongside actionable implications for advancing sustainable organizational performance.
