Abstract
The dynamic Multi-Robot Task Allocation (MRTA) problem presents a critical bottleneck in distributed control due to high communication overhead, single-point failure risks, and dynamic constraints. This paper proposes a fully decentralized Improved Artificial Bee Colony (I-ABC) algorithm integrated with Finite State Machines (FSMs). The continuous optimization process is mapped into an eight-state Markovian evolution flow, eliminating reliance on a central controller and global clock synchronization. Standard roulette selection is replaced with a Field-of-View (FoV)-based probabilistic recruitment mechanism. Furthermore, an adaptive motivation decay function balances task persistence against dynamic responsiveness—preventing both task inertia and premature thrashing—while quorum consensus sensing suppresses spatial congestion and deadlocks. Extensive Monte Carlo simulations under dynamic Poisson task arrivals and unexpected robot failures demonstrate that I-ABC achieves superior trade-offs in makespan, energy efficiency, and communication overhead compared to standard ABC and state-of-the-art DG-MRTA strategies. The proposed framework offers a highly robust and scalable solution for decentralized swarm deployments.
DGA and DMCHBA remained viable and stable in every tested condition, while ACBBA, PI, and DGA lost stability or viability as communication degraded, and Static and execution-integrated computation rankings diverged as task load increased.
It is established that CC-OPI terminates in finite time, free of stale-completion deadlock and of unbounded reassignment within the mission horizon, and within the tested settings, CC-OPI degrades gracefully as connectivity weakens and absorbs packet loss, terrain occlusion, and runtime task arrival.
Heterogeneous multi-robot task allocation (MRTA) requires the efficient coordination of robots with different capabilities while balancing task benefits, travel costs, and completion time. To address the challenges of complex constraints and premature convergence in conventional optimization methods, this paper propose...

Dynamic task allocation in multi-unmanned-aerial-vehicle (multi-UAV) teams must account for uncertain task return, changing reachability, intermittent communication, and terminal-return energy. We develop UCDG-PD for one-task-per-UAV allocation. At each decision epoch, an obstacle-aware bipartite graph keeps only capab...
This study addresses dynamic multi-UAV task allocation under online task release, static obstacles, deadlines, limited energy, and vehicle failures. We propose an event-triggered path-based bid assignment method (ET-PBBA). At each mission event, an A-star module estimates the static-obstacle travel cost of feasible UAV...
Multi-UAV multi-sensor cooperative detection is critical for situational awareness in complex environments with stationary known targets. To overcome the shortcomings of existing task allocation models in fine-grained cooperation, stealth constraints, and large-scale optimization, this paper proposes a new offline miss...
