Abstract
Climate change has emerged as a major driver of food systems instability, particularly in developing economies dependent on climate-sensitive agriculture. India, where a substantial proportion of households rely on agriculture for livelihood and food access, faces increasing vulnerability to climate-induced food price volatility. This systematic review synthesizes evidence published between 2015 and 2025 on the relationship between climate change, food price fluctuations, and household nutrition security in India. The review examines how extreme climatic events such as droughts, floods, erratic rainfall, and heatwaves affect agricultural production, disrupt supply chains, and increase food prices, thereby reducing household access to nutritious diets. Evidence from multiple Indian case studies indicates that poor and marginalized households are disproportionately affected through reduced dietary diversity, lower caloric intake, and increased malnutrition risks. The review further identifies adaptation strategies including climate-smart agriculture, public distribution systems, crop diversification, and social protection mechanisms. Significant research gaps remain regarding longitudinal nutrition outcomes, regional disparities, and integrated climate–nutrition policy frameworks. The findings emphasize the urgent need for resilient food systems and nutrition-sensitive climate policies in India.
Climate risk poses growing challenges to food availability and the resilience of urban food systems.
Using panel data for 298 prefecture-level cities in China from 2010 to 2023, this study employs a two-way fixed-effects model to examine the impact of climate risk on production-side food security, its transm...

ABSTRACT Climate change is a major driver of food insecurity in Ethiopia, affecting agricultural productivity, water availability, and rural livelihoods. The country's reliance on rain‐fed agriculture increases its vulnerability to climate‐related hazards, underscoring the need to synthesize existing evidence on climat...
In South Africa, climate change is increasingly threatening food security through droughts, irregular rainfall, high temperatures, floods, water shortage and reduced agricultural productivity. This study conducted a systematic review of South African studies on the integration of climate change, food security and susta...
This study examines the household resilience acting between shocks of climatic and socio-economic causes and food security outcomes in Indian states and union territories. By placing resilience within the context of climatic hazards, market volatility and household vulnerability, the paper highlights spending inequ...

Climate change is a major global challenge, and climate-smart agriculture (CSA) offers a solution by aiming to reduce emissions while increasing production and resilience. With most of the world’s poor living in rural areas and depending on agriculture, the sector is closely tied to poverty. This raises a critical ques...
