The circular economy implies new challenges and targets to mitigate the impact of new production cycles by using post‐production processes, such as the reuse and repurposing of components in the case of steel, whose high potential is already acknowledged for recycling. The PRIN 2022 research project, titled “Buildings and Circular Economy ‐ Steel from Production to Post‐Production ‐ Law and Responsibility Issues” focuses on this operational scenario.
The identification of operational protocols for the management of post‐production scenarios of steel components from decommissioning buildings is one of the goals of the Project of Relevant National Interest, funded by Next Generation EU, “ST3P+L. Buildings and Circular Economy. Steel from production to post‐production...

Structural steel reuse is increasingly promoted as a superior circular strategy, positioned above recycling within prevailing sustainability hierarchies. This ordering is typically justified because reuse avoids the energy and emissions associated with remelting, thereby preserving embodied carbon. However, such compar...

In recent years, building the circular built environment has become an urgent priority. However, the reuse of steel structures in construction field has not progressed due to lack of the technical evaluation methods, quality assurance systems, and legal frameworks. Although many dismantled steel members keep the struct...
The paper explores the transition from recycling‐oriented practices to reuse‐based strategies for steel construction within a circular economy framework. It presents the outcomes of the research project “ST3P+L. Building and Circular Economy. Steel from production to post‐production. Law and responsibility issues” (PRI...

The paper presents opportunities for reducing the environmental impact of modern precast concrete construction. The development of precast construction technologies, the importance of controlled manufacturing conditions, and the role of modularity in developing efficient structural solutions are discussed. The potentia...
This paper analyses recycled concrete as an eco-friendly alternative within the circular economy, offering a solution to growing construction waste. It reviews recycled aggregate production technologies and their impact on concrete's key physical and mechanical properties. Relevant standards (SRPS EN 12620 and SRPS EN...
