Abstract

Obtaining accurate fluxes of faint sources from the ground in near- and mid-infrared wavelengths is challenging because of the rapidly changing atmospheric absorption. A common limitation is the lack of a nearby spectro-photometric calibrator. We present the STellar Absolute Reference Spectroscopic Flux Library (starsflux), an all-sky catalogue of calibrator spectra spanning 0.3–30 μm and comprising 64, 484 stars; the target list is based on the Mid-infrared stellar Diameters and Fluxes compilation Catalogue (MDFC). starsflux combines Gaia DR3 stellar parameters with multi-band photometry from space- and ground-based surveys and synthetic NewEra PHOENIX atmosphere models. We fit each observed stellar SED with an interpolated model spectrum, an estimated diameter and estimated extinction to produce a flux-calibrated spectrum. The photometric diameter can be used for accurate calibration of interferometric observations. We validate the catalogue in three ways. First, starsflux angular radii agree closely with independent Gaia DR3 radii, with median |ΔR|/RGaia, DR3 ≃ 4.8%. Second, The integrated L-band (2.8–4.2 μm) fluxes for 12 stars in common with the Cohen infrared standard agree with the Cohen values with a mean absolute percentage difference of 4.7% ± 2.6%. Finally we compare the starsflux near-UV/visible/near-IR spectra with the Gaia DR3 BP/RP spectra. The absolute spectrophotometric fluxes agree to approximately 3%. The spectra in FITS format are available at https://home.strw.leidenuniv.nl/ gamez/ and will be submitted to VizieR.

The James Webb Space Telescope Absolute Flux Calibration. VI. Near-Infrared Camera Imaging and Coronagraphy

We present an updated flux calibration for all imaging modes of the Near-Infrared Camera on JWST that converts instrumental units to physical surface brightness units of MJy sr^-1. This calibration includes observations of 19 flux standard stars spanning 3.5 years, with a mix of A dwarfs, solar analogs, and hot stars....

Interferometric Survey of Stellar Parameters: Mass of the metallic A-type binary β Aur

Long-baseline optical interferometry provides spatially resolved observations of close binaries, complementing spectroscopic and photometric constraints on stellar parameters. With the capabilities of the new visible CHARA/SPICA instrument and the multiple spectral band operation of CHARA, our goal is to resolve orbits...

Euclid. A two-point correlation approach to diagnosing star-related systematics in the Euclid spectroscopic survey

The Euclid spectroscopic survey will measure galaxy clustering with unprecedented precision, requiring stringent control of observational and instrumental systematics. Star-related effects may contaminate spectroscopic images through photometric persistence and imperfect masking of stars. We characterized their impact...

Interferometric survey of stellar parameters. Towards homogeneous FGK stars parameters and surface-brightness color relation in the context of PLATO space mission

Estimations of stellar angular diameters can be determined based on the surface brightness-colour relation (SBCR) and photometry. In the context of the PLATO space mission, the SBCR is considered to be an independent empirical alternative for estimating the stellar radii of FGK stars. We implemented a homogeneous appro...

Assessing the astrometric and photometric performance of Starfinder2 in ELT-METIS simulated images

The Mid-infrared ELT Imager and Spectrograph (METIS) will provide diffraction-limited L′-band imaging of crowded stellar fields, where spatial variation in the adaptive optics point-spread function (PSF) complicates astrometry and photometry. We assess StarFinder2 using a 30 min ScopeSim observation of the Galactic Cen...
