Engineering a multifunctional bioactive coordination polymer nanoplatform for inflammation-responsive bone regeneration
Abstract
Inflammatory bone diseases are closely associated with impaired osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and excessive inflammatory signaling. Sinomenine (SIN) exhibits anti-inflammatory activity; however, its therapeutic application is limited by poor bioavailability. In this work, a multifunctional nanoplatform (CS-1@CP1@SIN) was constructed for SIN delivery and electrochemical sensing applications. The nanocomposite exhibited a mesoporous structure, structural stability, and improved electrochemical response characteristics. In a TNF-α-induced inflammatory MSC model, CS-1@CP1@SIN improved cell viability, reduced the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β and IL-6), and enhanced the expression of osteogenic markers (Runx2, ALP, and OCN). In addition, the CS-1@CP1@SIN-modified electrode exhibited enhanced electrocatalytic activity toward tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ), enabling sensitive and reliable electrochemical detection. These results demonstrate that the proposed nanoplatform integrates anti-inflammatory therapy and electrochemical sensing functions, providing a multifunctional strategy for inflammatory bone disease treatment and food antioxidant monitoring.
