Abstract

Simple Summary This study evaluated the effects of dietary digestible energy levels of 12.25, 12.49, 12.74, and 12.99 MJ/kg on lactation performance, rumen fermentation, and rumen microbiota in lactating Bactrian camels. The results showed significant increases in milk yield, milk fat yield, and lactose yield with increasing dietary digestible energy, whereas no significant differences were detected in milk protein percentage, milk fat percentage, lactose percentage, or milk protein yield among treatments. As dietary digestible energy increased, ruminal ammonia nitrogen concentration decreased significantly, while propionate and butyrate concentrations were significantly higher in the high-energy group. In contrast, no significant differences were detected in acetate concentration, total volatile fatty acid concentration, or rumen pH among treatments. No significant differences were detected in overall rumen microbial diversity or community structure among dietary digestible energy treatments. Overall, within the dietary range examined in this study, an appropriate increase in digestible energy improved lactation performance and rumen fermentation in lactating Bactrian camels, while no significant differences were detected in overall rumen microbial diversity or community structure.

Impacts of Fermented Distillers Grains Inclusion on Growth Performance, Nutrient Digestibility, Rumen Fermentation, and Gut Microbiota of Crossbred Simmental Steers

This study evaluated the effects of dietary incorporating with fermented distillers grains (FDGs) on growth performance, nutrient digestibility, rumen fermentation, and ruminal/fecal microbiota in crossbred Simmental steers. During a 28-day feeding trial, 36 steers were randomly assigned to control (basal diet only), 4...

Impact of soybean hulls on milk composition, nutrient digestibility, serum metabolites, rumen fermentation, and gut microbiota of postpartum dairy cows.

Soybean hulls, a by-product of industrial processing, are rich in polysaccharides and are an important biological resource. This study evaluated the effects of replacing traditional forage fiber with soybean hulls in the diets of postpartum dairy cows on milk yield, milk composition, rumen fermentation, and liver metab...

Milk Yield, Nitrogen Use Efficiency, and Rumen Fermentation in Barki Ewes, and the Performance of Their Offspring in Response to Increasing Dietary Protein Levels.

This study investigated the effects of increasing dietary crude protein (CP) levels on milk yield, nutrient utilization, nitrogen use efficiency, rumen fermentation, and lamb growth in lactating Barki ewes. Twenty-one multiparous ewes (mean body weight (BW) of 40.5 ± 0.41 kg), each nursing one lamb (mean BW: 6.22 ± 0.1...

Dose-Dependent Effects of Fermented Apple Pomace on Lactation Performance in Dairy Goats and Associated Antioxidant, Inflammatory, and Gut Microbiota Responses in Rats

Apple pomace, a byproduct of juice processing, requires valorization. This study evaluated the dose-dependent effects of fermented apple pomace (FAP) on growth and lactation performance in dairy goats and associated antioxidant, inflammatory, and gut microbiota responses in rats. Five FAP inclusion levels (0%, 5%, 10%,...

Effects of dietary barley malt extract on growth performance, immune parameters, intestinal fermentation and gut microbiota in nursery piglets

This study evaluated the effects of graded dietary barley malt extract (BME) supplementation on growth performance, fecal consistency, immune parameters, antioxidant status, short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) concentrations, and gut microbiota composition in nursery piglets. A total of 144 weaned piglets (24 days of age; 7....

Effects of increased dietary sugar and reduced rumen-undegradable protein during the transition period on production, metabolic, and immune parameters in dairy cows

Optimizing carbohydrate and protein fractions in transition dairy cow diets is critical for maintaining rumen function, health, and productivity. Although rations should be rich in starch and undegraded protein for high-yielding cows, this study examined the effects of reducing dietary starch and rumen-undegradable pro...
