Abstract

We determine the sharp asymptotic behavior of the optimal constants in the discrete Hardy-Rellich inequalities on the lattice $\mathbb{Z}^d$. For every fixed integer $m\ge 1$, let ${\mathcal C}_{m,d}$ be the best constant in the $m$-th order Hardy-Rellich inequality. We prove that $$\lim_{d\to\infty}\frac{\mathcal C_{m,d}}{d^m}=2^m.$$ Our approach combines a Fourier reduction to weighted inequalities with the flat torus and general weighted Hardy-Rellich identities of first and second order. A key novelty is the use of probabilistic concentration estimates, specifically Hoeffding's inequality and entropy methods, to handle estimates involving the anisotropic weight $\omega^\gamma$ $(\gamma\geq 1)$ where $$\omega(x)=\sum_{j=1}^{d} \Big(\sin\frac{x_j}{2}\Big)^2$$ in a dimension-uniform manner. These tools yield asymptotically sharp weighted estimates on the torus, from which the lattice inequalities follow by iteration.

Square function characterization of Hardy-type spaces

The well-known characterization of Hardy spaces $\mathrm{H}_{p}(\mathbb D)$, $0<p<\infty$, in terms of the Littlewood-Paley g-function $$ S f (\zeta) = \left(\int_0^1 |f'(r \zeta)|^2 (1 - r) \mathrm dr\right)^{1/2} \in \mathrm{L}_{p} $$ is generalized to Hardy-type spaces $X_A$ corresponding to quasi-Banach lattices $X$ on the unit circle $\mathbb T$ under the assumption that the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator $M$ is bounded in $(X^\delta)'$ with some $\delta>0$. As an application to composition operators $C_\varphi$, we derive an exact criterion for the boundedness and compactness of $C_\varphi : \mathcal{B}^\omega \to X_A$, where $\mathcal{B}^\omega = \{f \mid \sup |f'|/\omega<\infty\}$ is the weighted Bloch space with a log-convex radial weight $\omega$, generalizing recent results in the one-dimensional setting.

The sharp discrete Hardy inequality on $\Z^3$

We determine the sharp constant in the nearest-neighbor Hardy inequality on $\Z^3$ with the Euclidean inverse-square weight. For every finitely supported function $u:\Z^3\to\C$, we prove \[ \sum_{x\in\Z^3}\sum_{j=1}^3 |u(x+e_j)-u(x)|^2 \geq \frac14\sum_{x\in\Z^3\setminus\{0\}} \frac{|u(x)|^2}{|x|^2}. \] The coefficient $1/4$ is sharp, and equality is not attained by a nonzero finitely supported function. The proof uses an explicit reciprocal edge field and an edgewise completion of squares, together with a concavity argument for the associated vertex weight.

Nondegeneracy and regularity of polynomial pushforwards

Let $\mu$ be a log-concave probability measure on $\mathbb R^n$ and let $f\colon\mathbb R^n\to\mathbb R^k$ be a polynomial mapping of degree at most $d$. We show that \[ \mu(f\in A) \le C\bigl(\lambda_k(A)\bigr)^{\frac{1}{k(d-1)+1}} \] for every Borel set $A\subset\mathbb R^k$ whenever the image measure $\mu\circ f^{-1}$ is absolutely continuous. The constant $C$ is independent of the dimension $n$, and the exponent $\frac{1}{k(d-1)+1}$ is sharp. This extends the scalar Carbery--Wright inequality and answers, in the log-concave setting, a question raised by Avni, Glazer, and Larsen. In addition, we show that the density of $\mu\circ f^{-1}$, whenever it exists, belongs to the Nikolskii--Besov space $B^{\frac{1}{k(d-1)+1}}_{1,\infty}(\mathbb R^k)$, with a dimension-free bound for the corresponding norm. A central difficulty in passing from scalar polynomials to vector-valued polynomial mappings is the lack of a suitable nondegeneracy parameter quantifying absolute continuity of $\mu\circ f^{-1}$, as the variance does in the scalar case. Natural candidates such as the covariance matrix or the Jacobian matrix either fail to characterize this property or do not lead to dimension-free estimates. We identify such a parameter and define it to be the covariance matrix of the vector formed by the monomials of degree up to $d^{k-1}$ in the normalized components of $f$. The dimension-free nature of our results allows us to extend Kusuoka's absolute continuity criterion for Gaussian polynomial random vectors to the log-concave setting. Moreover, in this setting, we obtain estimates relating convergence in distribution to convergence in total variation for polynomial random vectors.

Sharp Summability of Nevanlinna Defects for Finite-Lower-Order Holomorphic Curves

For a countable family of hyperplanes $H_j\subset \mathbb{P}^m$, $j\in\mathbb{N}$, in general position and a linearly nondegenerate holomorphic curve $f\colon \mathbb{C}\to \mathbb{P}^m$ of finite lower order, we prove that the Nevanlinna defects $\delta_f(H_j)$ satisfy $$ \sum_{j=1}^{\infty}\delta_f(H_j)^{1/3}<\infty. $$ This resolves a long-standing open problem in Nevanlinna theory and extends Weitsman's celebrated scalar endpoint theorem (the case $m=1$) as well as Krutin's results for exponents strictly greater than $1/3$. The same uniform finite-family estimate yields the corresponding endpoint theorem for divisors cut out on a projective variety by ambient hypersurfaces of uniformly bounded degree, assuming that the divisors are in general position with respect to the variety and that the curve is not contained in the support of any divisor.

On low-dimensional uniform rectifiability in Heisenberg groups - Part 2

Let $1\leq k\leq n$. We prove that $k$-dimensional intrinsic Lipschitz graphs in the Heisenberg group $\mathbb{H}^n$ satisfy a geometric lemma $\mathrm{GLem}(\beta_{2,\mathcal{V}_k},p)$ for horizontal $\beta$-numbers with an exponent $p=p(k)$. Previously, this result was known only in the case $k=1$; our proof recovers the sharp exponent $p=4$ in this setting. For $k>1$, we adapt an integral geometric approach originally developed by Orponen for Euclidean and parabolic Lipschitz functions. In addition, for $k=n$, we show how to deduce a geometric lemma directly from an isotropic Dorronsoro theorem in $\mathbb{R}^{2n}$ using a Morrey-type inequality. Building on the new geometric lemmas, we establish a necessary condition for $k$-regular sets in $\mathbb{H}^n$ to admit corona decompositions by intrinsic Lipschitz graphs. The condition is known to be sufficient by earlier work of the last two authors together with Pinamonti. It involves additional flatness coefficients besides $\beta_{2,\mathcal{V}_k}$. Along the way, we therefore extend the known stability results for geometric lemmas under the"big pieces''functor to a larger class of coefficients.

A sharp covering theorem and Solyanik estimates for Euclidean balls

For every finite family of Euclidean balls in $\mathbb{R}^n$, $n\ge2$, and every $0<\delta<1/2$, we select a subfamily whose $(1+\delta)$-dilations cover the original union and whose undilated balls have multiplicity at most $C_n\delta^{-(n-1)/2}$. This proves the covering estimate conjectured by Han and Lu \cite{HL}. As an application, we determine the optimal Solyanik asymptotic \[ \mathcal C_n(\alpha)-1\asymp_n(1-\alpha)^{2/(n+1)} \qquad(\alpha\uparrow1) \] for the uncentered Hardy--Littlewood maximal operator over Euclidean balls, which is Conjecture~1(b) of Hagelstein and Parissis \cite{HP14}. For the modified uncentered maximal operators, we determine the optimal weak $(1,1)$ growth rate $(k-1)^{-(n-1)/2}$ as $k\downarrow1$, uniformly over Radon measures. We also obtain the corresponding $L^p$ and Fefferman--Stein bounds.
