Abstract

The implementation of the Deep Learning approach within the Kurikulum Merdeka framework requires teachers to design instructional modules that facilitate meaningful, mindful, and joyful learning experiences. However, a preliminary needs assessment among teachers in the Indonesian Language Subject Teachers' Consultation (MGMP) of Palangka Raya revealed that their pedagogical competence in embedding Deep Learning principles remained suboptimal. This community empowerment service aimed to improve teachers' professional competence through collaborative workshops and intensive mentoring in designing Deep Learning-based teaching modules. The intervention engaged 60 junior high school Indonesian language teachers through systematic stages comprising needs analysis, conceptual reinforcement, design workshops, clinical mentoring, peer review, product presentations, revisions, and evaluation. Program evaluation revealed an increase in conceptual comprehension scores from a pre-test average of 54.20 to a post-test average of 86.45, alongside a validation feasibility score of 88.75% (highly feasible category) for the developed modules. The tangible outputs comprise three complete Phase D Indonesian language teaching modules for Grades VII, VIII, and IX deposited in a digital cloud repository for instructional adoption. Consequently, this collaborative MGMP-based empowerment framework serves as an effective, sustainable capacity-building model adaptable to other teacher learning communities.
