Development of an Interactive Arabic E-Module Based the Read-Asnwer-Discuss-Explain-Create (RADEC) Model for Arabic Speaking Skills
Abstract
This study was motivated by the lack of teaching materials for the al-Kalam course in the Arabic Language Education Program, Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Yogyakarta, that can help students overcome challenges, such as a lack of mastery of Arabic vocabulary and sentence structure, difficulties in expressing ideas, thoughts, opinions, and experiences in Arabic, and low motivation and self-confidence in communicating in Arabic. This study aims to develop a RADEC-based Arabic e-module, determine its validity, and test its effectiveness in improving students’ speaking skills. It employs a research and development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE development model and a posttest-only control group design. The study participants were third-semester students enrolled in the al-Kalam course. Data were collected through interviews, observations, questionnaires, tests, and documentation. The e-module was developed using Canva and Heyzine Flipbook, presenting materials through reading texts, images, audio, video, and website links. The validation results showed that content experts assigned a score of 91.16%, while media experts assigned a score of 99.33%. Student feedback received an average score of 4.82, which is categorized as “very good.” An independent t-test revealed a p-value of 0.007 (< 0.05), indicating that the RADEC-based Arabic e-module is effective in improving students’ Arabic speaking skills
