We introduce UniWorld-Design, a framework that redefines image generation from flat pixel synthesis to structured visual composition, with semantic RGBA layers as the atomic units of generation, understanding, and editing. Our key insight is that pixels define how an image is rendered, whereas layers define how an image is created, understood, and edited. Just as human designers create and manipulate visual content through layers rather than raw pixels, UniWorld-Design equips multimodal generative models with a layer-native design space. UniWorld-Design comprises two models. The Text-to-RGBA (T2RGBA) model generates standalone RGBA assets directly from text. The Image-to-Layer (I2L) model conditions on a finished image, a global instruction and per-layer prompts, and jointly produces ordered, complete semantic RGBA layers. Its instruction interface supports top-level decomposition, recursive decomposition and targeted extraction, making layering an instruction-addressable operation for agentic editing. Because I2L learns complete semantic objects rather than visible-pixel partitions, its layers stay usable when moved or removed. On the Crello benchmark, I2L reduces per-layer RGB L1 error by 37% and achieves a 34% relative improvement in Alpha Soft IoU over Qwen-Image-Layered. Separately, T2RGBA achieves the highest CLIP Score, outperforming LayerDiffuse and OmniAlpha.
While diffusion base models such as GPT-Image-2 and Nano-Banana exhibit remarkable visual expressiveness, their end-to-end generation inherently yields flattened bitmaps with error-prone text, precluding layer-wise post-editing. Conversely, code-based visual generation via Coding Agents provides precise layout control and decoupled layers, yet remains constrained by a lack of global aesthetic intuition and the difficulty of coding complex visual assets. To address this, we propose Editable Visual Design, a new paradigm driven by a Coding Agent. We designate the VLM as the ``creative brain''for requirement comprehension, task planning, and aesthetic judgment, while utilizing the image generation model as an on-demand ``visual world simulator''to synthesize standalone visual assets. Operating under an ``imagine first, then act''closed-loop workflow, the agent generates isolated assets, writes native HTML/CSS, and iteratively refines the design against visual rendering feedback. Furthermore, Agent Design Replay faithfully reproduces the creative and reasoning trajectory akin to that of professional human designers. Ultimately, the system delivers editable artifacts with decoupled layers and real text, enabling users to perform intuitive mouse dragging and layout adjustments on a graphical user interface. Validations on posters, infographics, and other scenarios show that this paradigm successfully achieves both refined aesthetics and production-grade editability.

A post-training paradigm that integrates multimodal alignment (MA) and structural perception (SP) is proposed, MA enhances element interpretation by grounding metadata-defined elements to their visual counterparts, mitigating semantic drift, and SP models layer-aware inter-element spatial relationships to improve hierarchical understanding and reduce structural ambiguity.

Text-rich visual inputs require models that can read, retrieve, and compress language directly in pixel space, yet existing pixel-text encoders struggle with fixed resolution pretraining, visual shortcut learning, weak visual grounding, and multilingual visual text understanding. In this work, we investigate the fundamental design principles required for robust visual text representation learning. Through systematic controlled ablations, we identify four critical components: variable image resolutions and rendered font sizes provide spatial proxies for high-resolution document generalization; natural image-text pairs are indispensable for grounding and prevent text-only collapse; layout-aware rendering helps prevent pixel-level shortcuts; and a two-stage multilingual curriculum enables effective cross-lingual alignment. By integrating these principles into a scalable training recipe, we train Pixel Linguist II, a native-resolution vision encoder trained with on-the-fly rendering, unified contrastive grounding, and a multilingual curriculum over 280M training examples. Pixel Linguist II sets new state-of-the-art results on English, cross-lingual, and multilingual Visual STS and ViDoRe, while also enabling better MLLM downstream evaluation. Notably, Pixel Linguist II remains robust under 80\% visual token compression, showing great promise for optical context compression. We launch SenseNova-U1.5, an 8B-MoT native unified multimodal model that understands, reasons about, and generates visual content within an encoder-free and VAE-free architecture. We strengthen its visual interface through spatially coherent patch reconstruction and scale its training with carefully curated generation and editing data, improved task formulation, structural prompt enhancement, and native resolutions of up to 4K. For post-training, we optimize specialized experts for visual aesthetics, bilingual text rendering, infographic generation, and image editing, and consolidate their capabilities through multi-expert on-policy distillation. Across extensive evaluations, SenseNova-U1.5 largely advances image fidelity, text rendering, complex composition, multi-reference editing, and interleaved generation, while improving instruction following and preserving subject identity, geometry, and unmodified regions. Despite limited exposure to structured formats in its generation data, SenseNova-U1.5 generalizes effectively to long, complex, and structured visual instructions, further proving that multimodal understanding can transfer to visual planning and creation. Together, these findings position native unified modelling as a promising path towards systems that perceive, reason and create within a fully end-to-end framework. We will open-source training code, including supervised fine-tuning, reinforcement learning, and on-policy distillation.
ProVisE (Protocolized Visual Evaluation), a benchmark-agnostic framework that elicits protocol-constrained visual answers from image-generation models and parses them into structured predictions compatible with original metrics, is proposed and revealed, revealing complementary strengths of pixel-space expression and text-based reasoning.
