非 · Negativa - On Negation Prior to Being / 论否定先于存在

Oct 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

Full bilingual text and framework available at self-as-an-end.net Description This paper registers the sole axiom of SAE, 非不能非: the denial of Negativa cannot avoid enacting it. Negativa (非) is the performable operation of demarcation; deny it, and the act of denying has already performed it. That is all the axiom warrants. The paper keeps four things apart: the operation of demarcation; the place where the operation, asking back after its own source, cannot supply the answer itself — marked by the limit-name "the source of Negativa"; the concept of negation; and a single act of negation. Three claims each carry their own burden of argument: concepts do not create the source; use does not wait on tracing the source; and, on this paper's definition of the source of Negativa (its usage undertaking included) and the operational postulate, for reason: nothing reason can determine is the source of Negativa, reason itself included; reason cannot assert that it is or that it is not, and does not know what it is. Negation is prior to being on two levels: to say "being," one must already be drawing distinctions; and in the genetic narrative of the DD sequence, "being" and the "I" are both sediments of chiseling, and chiseling is the performance of this operation. The paper stands upstream of cosmic history and makes no claims within it. The four phases — nothing, not-nothing, nothing-and-not-nothing, neither-nothing-nor-not-nothing — are derivable, exhaustive within their schema, and open to a fifth. Daoism, Buddhism, apophatic theology, and this paper illuminate one another. The paper's method is Via Negativa: of the source of Negativa it says only what it is not; every exclusion that passes review is gain, not approach. The sole axiom of SAE, across all its series: Negativa. Everything else is a postulate or theorem within its series. SAE Methodology Paper 0 (M-0), second edition. Version note Second edition, rewritten in full after SAE: The First Critique (10.5281/zenodo.21439120). The axiom is kept and narrowed to what it warrants. The first edition's generative direction is withdrawn: being, non-being, and, or, the remainder, and negation as derivation results; the remainder as a motor; the three groups of theorems; the split into global and local axioms. "Everything else is theorem" now reads "everything else is a postulate or theorem within its series." New in this edition: four names kept apart (the operation, the source of Negativa, the concept of negation, an act of negation); the source of Negativa defined as a limit-name with a usage undertaking, followed by an exclusion theorem and three statements made "for reason"; the four phases re-listed as record states and proved exhaustive within an explicit schema, open to a fifth; a register of the axiom, the postulates relied on (each with its home series), the definition, the theorems, and the limit-names; the traditions read as mutual illumination, with no identity claims. An appendix maps every section of the first edition to its place here and lists each withdrawn sentence with its ground. The first edition remains available as version 10.5281/zenodo.19544620. The Chinese text governs; the English text is an independent rewrite. This paper was internally reviewed through multi-model AI collaboration in three rounds; that internal review does not constitute traditional peer review, and full responsibility for the arguments rests with the author.
