Protocol for: Adaptive Quality of Service Management in Energy-Constrained IoT Networks — A Systematic Literature Review

Oct 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)
IoT and Edge/Fog Computing

Abstract

This record contains the research protocol and the classification database of a PRISMA 2020-compliant systematic literature review on adaptive Quality of Service (QoS) management in energy-constrained IoT networks (147 studies published 2018–2025: 128 research articles and 19 surveys, selected from 2,763 records retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore and ScienceDirect). The protocol covers the five research questions, the eligibility criteria, the search string, the selection process, the data-extraction form, the inter-rater reliability procedure (three reviewers, Fleiss' κ = 0.939–0.966), the quality-assessment criteria and the analysis plan. The protocol was documented in May 2026, after the December 2025 search, and was retrospectively registered on OSF Registries on 9 May 2026 (DOI 10.17605/OSF.IO/PXMZQ). Files: protocol (PDF), classification database of the 147 articles (CSV) and inter-rater classification data (CSV). The concept DOI 10.5281/zenodo.20097783 always resolves to the latest version.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

Trajectory Balance: Improved Credit Assignment in GFlowNets

It is proved that any global minimizer of the trajectory balance objective can define a policy that samples exactly from the target distribution, and empirically demonstrate the benefits of the trajectories balance objective for GFlowNet convergence, diversity of generated samples, and robustness to long action sequenc...

What AI gets wrong and what failure teaches us

Jennifer Neville did not want to go into computer science—but that’s exactly where she landed. Neville discusses the starts and stops that led to her professional sweet spot and her work identifying “surprising failures” making it hard for AI to handle complexity.  The post What AI gets wrong and what failure teaches us appeared first on Microsoft Research.
