Paulo Freire is one of the main references in Brazilian and international educational thought, particularly in the fields of critical, democratic, and liberating education. His pedagogical conception understands education as a social practice capable of contributing to the development of critical awareness, dialogue, and social transformation. This article aims to analyze the importance of Paulo Freire's thought for the construction of liberating education in contemporary society. This is a qualitative bibliographic review based mainly on scientific articles published between 2021 and 2024, selected according to their relationship with the concepts of liberating education, critical pedagogy, dialogue, emancipation, and Freirean praxis. The studies analyzed demonstrate that Freire's pedagogy remains relevant because it advocates education based on student participation, appreciation of learners' knowledge and experiences, critical problematization of reality, and overcoming authoritarian pedagogical practices. It is concluded that Freire's legacy remains significant for the construction of democratic, humanizing education committed to social justice.
