Abstract

In Photovoltaic (PV) system, managing and controlling energy is a complex task because of DC and AC elements operate differently, occurring voltage and frequency problems. This paper proposes a PV-fed Coupled Inductor Interleaved Boost (CIIB) Converter with a proportionalintegral (PI) controller based on the Kookaburra Optimization algorithm (KOA) for EV charging. The purpose of the CIIB Converter is to raise the PV system’s output voltage. In proposed methodology, the KOA-PI controller is used to tune the controller gains with improved convergence speed and achieve maximum power with fewer oscillations under both dynamic and constant operating conditions. The comprehensive analysis is conducted in MATLAB simulation platform to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed system. The performance of the developed converter is compared the conventional DC-DC Converter. The CIIB Converter regulated by KOA-PI Controller provides a high performance than other controller with a minimum settling time of 0.005 s and better efficiency of 92%.
