Abstract
This study explores an alternative method for designing a PID controller aimed at optimizing the operation of buck converter applications. The study proposes a simple and direct formula based on comparing the coefficients of the transfer function parameters of the buck converter with those of the controller. The proposed controller was implemented and evaluated using the MATLAB/Simulink environment, and its performance was compared against that of an automatically tuned controller. Simulation results indicate that the tuned controller exhibits a steady state error of 0.17%. In contrast, the proposed controller offers superior tracking capability, zero steady state error, robust disturbance rejection, and operates approximately seven times faster than the tuned controller. The proposed controller offers a 100% accuracy and therefore can guarantee stable and efficient performance of buck converter operations. This research therefore underscores the potential of the new controller design to significantly enhance the reliability and efficiency of buck converter systems.
This work presents the experimental validation of proportional–integral (PI) controller gains for a DC–DC boost converter obtained using two metaheuristic optimization algorithms: Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Lungs Performance Optimization (LPO). The controller gains were previously determined through a simula...

This project focuses on the design and simulation of buck-boost converters using an Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) based control technique for regulating the load voltage. DC-DC converters are widely used in power electronic systems where a controlled DC voltage is required from an input source. The buck...

DC-DC buck-boost converters are widely used in photovoltaic (PV) systems to maintain a regulated output voltage under varying source and load conditions. Although genetic algorithms (GA) based proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controllers are commonly used, the influence of different integral error performance ind...

This paper presents the synthesis of a robust LMI-based controller for a boost converter supplying a constant power load (CPL). The converter connects a DC bus to a CPL requiring regulated output voltage. In the absence of control, the system may exhibit unstable behavior due to the destabilizing characteristics of the...

There are several industrial applications for BLDC motors where precise speed control is required. There has been a lot of research on and practical use of classical controllers, but when dealing with nonlinearity, changing plant parameters, moving time delays, and excessive plant noise, advanced controllers often perf...

In this paper, a design of an optimal discrete PI controller for a DC-DC boost converter that fed a PMDC motor drive system is presented. The small signal model (SSM) is extracted and validated theoretically and experimentally. The system transfer function has a right half plane zero (RHPZ) which adversely affects the...
