Impact of operative time on complications after PCNL in the elderly (aged ≥70 years): the Safety and Efficacy of Nephrolithotomy in Older patients undergoing PCNL (SENIOR‐PCNL) study
In elderly patients undergoing PCNL, prolonged OT was independently associated with higher odds of overall, major, and infectious postoperative complications, supporting OT as a practical intraoperative marker for risk stratification and procedural planning.
Abstract
To evaluate the association between operative time (OT) and postoperative complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) in elderly patients, and to identify a clinically meaningful OT threshold for risk stratification.
A risk score based on age ≥70 years, ACCI ≥6, and preoperative anemia effectively stratifies elderly patients by their risk of major complications after pulmonary lobectomy, though external validation is warranted.

Adverse outcomes following pediatric AVM resection are significantly influenced by surgical urgency, preoperative cardiopulmonary status, and operative complexity, demonstrating that potentially modifiable risk factors provides tangible targets for preoperative intervention.

AbstractBackground/Objective: Critically ill patients undergoing percutaneous dilatational tracheostomy (PDT) frequently require prolonged ventilatory support and have a high risk of adverse outcomes. This study investigated clinical and laboratory factors associated with 90-day mortality after PDT.Materials and Method...
