Abstract
In April 2026, engineers at Northwestern University reported printed artificial neurons that generate electrical signals realistic enough to activate living neurons in mouse brain tissue. This article explains, for a general technical audience, what artificial neurons are and why flexible, biocompatible neural interfaces matter, and summarises how the Northwestern team fabricated the devices from printed nanomaterial inks and tested them on mouse brain slices. It reviews potential applications in neuroprosthetics, spinal cord injury rehabilitation, neurodegenerative disease treatment and brain-computer interfaces, and examines ethical questions around neural data privacy, cognitive liberty and equitable access. The article stresses that the work is an early proof of concept requiring years of further research, regulatory approval and manufacturing development before clinical use, and considers its relevance to Pakistan's emerging biotech and AI research landscape.
The method, ECCOLA, is presented, which aims at making the high-level AI ethics principles more practical, making it possible for developers to more easily implement them in practice.

Training AI agents with reinforcement learning can be challenging because their tools, context, and decision-making are managed by complex frameworks. Agent Lightning connects existing agents to RL training, making it easier to improve them without rebuilding them.
