A Conceptual Framework for Intelligent IoT and AI-Driven Neurocognitive Healthcare Assistive Systems

Sep 2026 · Advances in computational intelligence and robotics book series · pp. 1-24 · 16 references

Abstract

Intelligent Internet of Things (IoT) and assistive technologies are revolutionizing neurocognitive healthcare, with the ability to continuously monitor, use early diagnostics, assess disease progression and deliver personalized interventions. In this chapter, a conceptual framework concerning the integration of wearable sensing technologies, ambient intelligence, edge–cloud computing, multimodal artificial intelligence, explainable deep learning, and assistive technologies for rehabilitation to support proactive personalized care is introduced. The framework covers the neurocognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, dementia, autism spectrum disorders, attention-related disorders and post-stroke cognitive rehabilitation. Future directions for precision neurocognitive healthcare are presented for emerging technologies including federated learning, digital twins and brain–computer interfaces. The chapter serves as a handy guide for researchers, clinicians, and health care technology developers.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.
