AnCiR: Analysis of Chronobiological Rhythms

Sep 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

AnCiR is a graphical, no-coding tool for the analysis of chronobiological rhythms and other time-series data. It provides periodicity detection (Sokolove–Bushell χ2, Enright, Lomb–Scargle, FFT), cosinor and harmonic-cosinor fitting, non-parametric circadian rhythm analysis (IS, IV, RA, M10, L5), circular statistics, continuous wavelet transforms, smoothing, and inferential statistics with multiple-comparison correction and surrogate or permutation nulls. A Handbook of Chronobiological Data Analysis is the companion text: an interactive guide with worked examples and animations that explains each method and shows how to carry it out in AnCiR. It is archived as a separate record, doi:10.5281/zenodo.21727169, and published at https://ancir.pages.dev/handbook.html. Please cite that record when citing the handbook. Its source is included in this deposit under handbook/. AnCiR was financially supported by a University of Auckland Teaching and Learning Development and Innovation Grant (2024). It is written in Svelte, with help from AI models. Bug reports, feature requests, and offers of support: d.cumin@auckland.ac.nz
