Moral Decadence and Artificial Intelligence: Challenges and Possible Solutions among Secondary School Students

Aug 2026 · INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND MANAGEMENT RESEARCH · pp. 328 · 0 citations

Abstract

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed education, communication, and social interaction, profoundly shaping the experiences of secondary school students. Alongside these advancements, the rise of moral decadence manifested in dishonesty, disrespect, substance abuse, sexual immorality, and disregard for authority remains a pressing societal concern. The intersection of AI and morality presents a dual impact: while AI enhances learning, creativity, and global connectivity, it exposes students to academic misconduct, harmful content, misinformation, and addictive behaviors that undermine ethical values. Addressing these challenges requires deliberate collaboration among educators, parents, religious institutions, and policymakers to balance technological progress with moral guidance. Strengthening digital literacy, integrating moral instruction, and promoting responsible AI use can ensure that technology is a tool for positive growth rather than moral decline. This study underscores the need for comprehensive strategies to shape a generation of morally sound and technologically responsible youths.
