Proactive Smart Policing in the 6G Era
Abstract
For 6G telecommunications, there needs to be a paradigm shift in public safety. This chapter introduces a methodological approach to proactive, intelligence-based policing, as a strategy that is able to address new threats such as quantum computing and advanced malware that pose problems to traditional reactive policing methods. The authors discuss hybrid solutions of Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) and network slicing in the context of autonomous UAV-based surveillance. In addition, the author shares details about Spatiotemporal Graph Federated Learning for cross-jurisdictional crime prediction, and Edge Computing and TinyML for real-time telemetry processing. Lastly, the adoption of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) is highlighted as a critical step in safeguarding digital evidence and ensuring its integrity. Finally, this chapter offers a full-fidelity model for the implementation of ultra-reliable quantum-resistant smart policing architectures.
