This review consolidates the current knowledge on the ecology, physiology, and molecular mechanisms of Gluconacetobacter diazotrophicus, critically assesses its limitations, and identifies future research priorities to enhance its translational potential.
The complex and dynamic nature of plant-microbial interactions is explored in this review, and the importance of beneficial associations, pathogenic encounters, environmental stresses, and transgenic plants in shaping plant-microbial interactions is highlighted.

BACKGROUND
Plants harbor complex microbial communities that are fundamental to their health and productivity. Among them, endophytic fungi such as Purpureocillium lilacinum establish mutualistic associations, offering dual benefits as plant growth promoters and biocontrol agents. However, the potential of this fungus i...

Framing bioinoculant performance as an ecological invasion problem provides a conceptual foundation for understanding why beneficial effects are often conditional and context-dependent, rather than reflecting inconsistent microbial potential.
The results highlight that the cell-free formulation modulates plant responses and enhances plant performance in certain aspects under the evaluated application conditions, suggesting an important biostimulant effect of the metabolites present in the cell-free microbial culture for growth promotion and improvement in f...
