Source Code and Synthetic Tests for Traceable Environmental Monitoring in Debrecen

Sep 2026 · Zenodo (CERN European Organization for Nuclear Research)

Abstract

This software release supports the manuscript “Provenance aware commissioning of integrated environmental monitoring in Debrecen.” It provides Python application modules, analytical scripts and a self-contained synthetic demonstration for examining the integration of air-quality, acoustic, surface-water and groundwater records from the Debrecen Environmental Monitoring System (KER), Hungary. The analytical workflow examines source and observation identity, duplicate representations, timestamp and unit consistency, parameter-specific screening, temporal matching, acoustic influence and water-record diagnostics. Report manifests and local review records link generated products to their evidence versions. The release distinguishes existing application functions from an analytical reference checker and from proposed operational alert logic. The synthetic demonstration contains fifteen reference-checker cases and five cases exercising existing report-review functions. All twenty final expected outcomes were reproduced in a clean Python environment without monitoring observations, credentials or private configuration. These tests demonstrate selected specification behavior, not sensor accuracy or independent field validation. One control documents that changing an external source without regenerating the report bundle does not invalidate its existing review. Restricted monitoring observations, archived provider responses, observation-level derivatives and operational configuration are excluded. Exact reproduction of the manuscript’s field results requires separately authorized inputs; the public Zöld Őrszem dashboard is a viewing service rather than a versioned archive of the study snapshot. Author-owned code and associated code documentation are released under the MIT License.

The impact of agile practices on communication in software development

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

Agile methods in European embedded software development organisations: a survey on the actual use and usefulness of Extreme Programming and Scrum

The results show that the embedded industry has been able to apply agile methods in its development processes and that the appreciation of the agile methods and their individual practices appears to increase once adopted and applied in practice.
