Saudi Arabia is placing a strong emphasis on sustainable water management, digital transformation, and efficient facility services as part of its Vision 2030 development agenda. Smart water metering has become an important tool for improving water-use monitoring, reducing wastage, detecting leakage, and supporting data-driven maintenance decisions. This study examines the role of smart water metering in enhancing sustainable facility services in Saudi Arabia, particularly in residential, commercial, recreational, and community service environments. These facilities include building maintenance services, residential facilities, guest houses, commissary centers, mini markets, swimming pools, recreation areas, cleaning services, and landscaping operations. The paper adopts a review-based approach to analyze how smart metering can support water conservation, preventive maintenance, contractor performance, and operational cost control. It highlights that smart water meters are not only technical devices for measuring consumption but also strategic tools for facility governance and sustainability reporting. The study finds that integrating smart water metering with facility management systems can improve service reliability, reduce unnecessary water loss, strengthen contract monitoring, and support Saudi Arabia’s national goals related to resource efficiency and smart infrastructure. This research contributes to the discussion on sustainable facility services by presenting smart metering as a practical solution for improving essential service delivery in Saudi Arabia.
