Abstract Amorphophallus, valued for glucomannan-rich corms and ornamental value, includes A. maxwellii Hett (1994), a tuberous geophyte from southwestern Thailand adapted to seasonally dry tropical biomes. We sequenced its complete chloroplast genome: 179,466 bp with a typical quadripartite structure (LSC 94,917 bp, SSC 15,775 bp, IRs 34,387 bp each), containing 128 genes (83 protein-coding, 37 tRNAs, and 8 rRNAs), and 34.13% GC content. Phylogenetic analysis of 15 complete chloroplast genomes strongly placed A. maxwellii within clade CA‑II as sister to A. kachinensis, supporting monophyly of lineages SEA, CA‑I, and CA‑II. This genomic resource facilitates evolutionary and stress-tolerance studies in Amorphophallus.

The chloroplast genomic data provide a valuable resource for future taxonomic and evolutionary studies in Amorphophallus and revealed that all Amorphophallus species formed a highly supported monophyletic clade, with A. ochroleucus showing closer affinity to A. paeoniifolius and A. titanum.
