Synthesis and biological characterization of formononetin derivatives against phytopathogenic oomycete and bacteria: preliminary mechanisms, theoretical predictions, and biosafety evaluation.

BACKGROUND The increasing prevalence of phytopathogenic oomycetes and bacteria, particularly Phytophthora capsici (Pc) and Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo), poses severe threats to global agricultural production. Developing novel antimicrobial agents with dual antimicrobial activities, multiple mechanisms of action,...

Acylpiperidine Formononetin Derivatives as Antimicrobial Lead Compounds: Activity and Preliminary Mode-of-Action Studies

Global agricultural production relies heavily on chemical pesticides, leading to resistance, residues, and pollution, threatening sustainable agriculture. There is an urgent need to develop novel antimicrobial agents from low-toxicity, easily degradable natural products. Using formononetin as a lead compound, acylpip...

Discovery of Novel Carbohydrazide-Containing Formononetin Derivatives as Potential Broad-Spectrum Antifungal Agents.

In vivo antifungal assays conducted on rice leaves and kiwifruit demonstrated that X4 displayed satisfactory protective and curative effects, and molecular docking experiments combined with SDH activity assays indicated that X4 engages in favorable interactions with SDH.

Synthesis and antifungal activity evaluation of flavonol derivatives containing an imidazolidinone moiety.

Findings indicate that H7 could serve as a lead compound for the development of novel fungicides against kiwifruit soft rot and preliminary mechanistic investigations suggested that the antifungal activity of H7 is associated with disruption of cell membrane integrity and inhibition of succinate dehydrogenase activity.
