The Impact of QA Process Maturity on Time-to-Market Reduction and Technological Risk Mitigation in Enterprise Software Development

Abstract

This article analyzes the relationship between the maturity of quality assurance processes and the operational characteristics of enterprise software development, including speed to market and the integrated level of technological risks. The significance of this issue is determined by the development of the domestic software engineering sector, whose volume reached 4.97 trillion rubles in 2024, growing by approximately 40%. Meanwhile, digital product quality issues remain systemic and continue to limit the industry's effectiveness. The objective of this study is to quantitatively interpret the relationships between maturity levels, as defined by the CMMI model, and metrics such as product launch cycle time and the defect rate of enterprise software solutions. The methodological framework utilizes a comparative analysis of practical cases, a summary of scientific publications, and a content analysis of analytical materials from international organizations, including reports from DORA, CISQ, and Gartner. Based on a comparison of scientific publications, industry reports, and corporate practices, the author proposes an evaluation model, according to which an increase in the maturity of QA processes from the initial level to the third can be accompanied by a reduction in the time to market of a product by 25–35%, while achieving higher levels of maturity potentially provides an acceleration of up to 62% with a reduction in the relative defect rate of up to 85%. Based on the identified patterns, a phased model for transforming quality assurance processes was developed, taking into account the specifics of the corporate segment and the operational characteristics of Russian customers. The findings have practical significance for management and technical roles responsible for software product development, as they enable a sound justification for investments in improving the maturity of testing and quality management processes.
