Abstract
This paper addresses the critical issue of high metal intensity and corrosion degradation in underground mine support systems by introducing an alternative non-metallic solution. The research proposes a low-metal-intensity combined dual-level rock bolting system where traditional steel SVP-19 profiles and retaining plates are completely replaced with glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) structural elements. The geomechanical behavior of the system was evaluated across three operational stages-initial state, abutment pressure zone, and behind the longwall face-using 3D finite element numerical modeling in SolidWorks Simulation, applying the Tsai-Hill failure criterion for orthotropic materials. The results demonstrate that the lower stiffness of GFRP elements enables a flexible damping mechanism, reducing peak equivalent stresses within the support by 10% (316 MPa vs. 335 MPa in steel) during the most critical third stage. Furthermore, the composite system improves displacement control by 9%, stabilizing contour deformations at 42 mm. Quadratic polynomial approximations with high determination coefficients R

=1.0 were established to predict stress dynamics. The proposed de-metallization strategy reduces the weight of auxiliary support components more than fourfold, significantly improving underground logistics, safety, and operational lifespan in corrosive mine environments.
As coal mining operations extend to greater depths, the stress regime governing the surrounding rock of roadways becomes increasingly complex. Existing support schemes, often characterized by poor structural integrity and inadequate dynamic disturbance resistance, fail to effectively control rock deformation, thereby...

Deep mining operations in metal mines face escalating challenges from high in situ stress environments, where conventional single-method ground control approaches often prove insufficient. This study proposes an innovative combined protection technology integrating four synergistic components: (i) prestressed rock bolt...

(English) Underground transport infrastructure has become a defining challenge of modern civil engineering, driven by growing urban demand and the need for efficient, durable solutions. Mechanised tunnelling with Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) has become the dominant construction method, and precast segmental linings it...
Purpose. Assessing the stability of underground mine workings excavated in fractured rock masses, deformation and failure of jointed rock masses.
Methodology. A numerical model was developed using FLAC3D v6 to reproduce: 1) in situ conditions for the gallery in its natural state without support, 2) the gallery after...

The use of recycled steel slag and tire-derived rubber as a combined backfill for geogrid-reinforced retaining walls offers a potential resource-recovery route, yet its influence on seismic performance has not been systematically quantified. To address this issue, a two-dimensional nonlinear finite-element model was us...
