Water quality is a fundamental aspect in koi fish farming because this species is highly susceptible to changes in environmental conditions, such as pH, temperature, turbidity levels, and solute concentrations. The mismatch of these parameters can inhibit growth, decrease immunity, and even increase the risk of fish death. Based on these problems, this research aims to design and develop a prototype of a microcontroller-based automatic water quality control system so that the condition of the pond remains in the optimal range. The research method is carried out through the design of integrated hardware and software. The system utilizes a pH sensor to measure the degree of acidity, a turbidity sensor to determine the turbidity of the water, a Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) sensor to detect the content of solutes, and a float level switch to monitor the height of the water level. Data from all sensors is processed by NodeMCU ESP8266 and sent to a web-based monitoring platform for real-time monitoring. If the parameters exceed the specified limits, the system automatically activates the pump, aerator, or filtration unit. The test results showed that the prototype was able to read parameters with a fast response and an adequate level of accuracy. Thus, this system can be concluded to be effective as a technological solution in supporting more efficient, controlled, and sustainable koi fish farming.
