The Measure of the Wound: A Sovereign Empirical Record of Black American Structural Distress, 1991–2024 — Publication Package (paper, data snapshot, code, errata, review)

Abstract

v1.4.2 — third-wave corrections (September 9, 2026). Closes all five remaining peer-review findings (P-1 through P-5) from the second independent review: the withdrawn SCF vault series is deprecated and replaced with a corrected 12-wave constant-2022-dollar FEDS Notes series, the sovereign dataset is resealed as v1.1-RESEALED, Humphreys validation figures are corrected, and Appendix H adds a complete correction ledger. The manuscript adds Appendix E effective-weights disclosure, a new Appendix I with the full 17-state BDI ranking, and qualified incarceration, BLS-dating and city-count language. Corrected Print Edition v1.4.2 of The Measure of the Wound, together with a frozen snapshot of every raw federal source file the paper's tables are built from, the manuscript sources, the reproducible typesetting pipeline, the recomputation log, the complete corrections ledger (Appendix H), the independent verification review by Manus AI (September 1, 2026) and the author's response. An eight-pillar empirical record of Black American structural disparity across 1991–2024, nested within federal series reaching to 1900 (health), 1925 (criminal justice), 1940 (housing), 1964 (political participation), 1972 (labor) and 1514 (historical architecture). Approximately 14,811 raw observations synthesized into 1,574 verified observations and applied to 15,507 census tracts in 49 cities. Disclosure of AI assistance: generative AI (Claude, Anthropic) was used substantially in drafting, recomputation and typesetting under the direction of the author, who is accountable for all content. An independent review was performed by Manus AI. No AI system is an author. Reproducibility note: the FarmBlock Distress Index outputs are published but not yet independently reproducible from this package; see Appendix E.4a.
