Abstract

Low accuracy and consistency in underhand passing technique among female volleyball extracurricular participants pose a primary obstacle in constructing team attack patterns, necessitating structured independent training media such as wall-target bouncing drills. This study aimed to determine the effect of underhand passing training using wall media as a target on the underhand passing ability of female volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 2 OKU. This research used a quantitative method with a one-group pretest-posttest experimental design. The population in this study consisted of 30 female students participating in the volleyball extracurricular activity at SMA Negeri 2 OKU, while the sample consisted of 15 students selected using the purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used was the AAHPERD volleyball skill test (volleying test). Data analysis techniques included the Shapiro-Wilk normality test and the paired sample t-test hypothesis test using SPSS 26 software. The results showed that the mean pretest score of 27.93 increased to 37.73 in the posttest. The normality test results indicated that the pretest and posttest data were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.169 and 0.273 (p>0.05), respectively. Furthermore, the hypothesis test results showed that the t-count value was 22.343, which was greater than the t-table value of 2.145, with a significance value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Therefore, H_0 was rejected and H_a was accepted. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that underhand passing training using wall media as a target had a significant effect on improving the underhand passing ability of female volleyball extracurricular participants at SMA Negeri 2 OKU. The training, which was conducted repeatedly and systematically, proved effective in improving the accuracy, coordination, and consistency of underhand passing movements.
