Abstract

Abstract During a survey of the taxonomy and diversity of saprobic fungi, fresh samples were collected from submerged decaying wood in freshwater habitats in Guizhou and Hainan Provinces, southern China. Phylogenetic analyses, based on LSU, ITS, SSU, tef1-α and rpb2 sequence data, together with morphological characteristics, support the introduction of two new species, Hyaloambispora aquaticasp. nov. and Paramirandina fusiseptatasp. nov. Detailed morphological descriptions, illustrations and multi-locus phylogenetic analyses are provided herein to support and substantiate the taxonomic placement of these newly-introduced taxa. Importantly, this study represents the first record of Hyaloambispora species from Guizhou Provinces, China, further expanding the known diversity of freshwater fungi in these regions.
