Real-Time Systems Scheduling
Abstract
Real-time applications are systems designed toprocess continuous streams of data and respond to externalevents within strict and predictable latency constraints. Withthe proliferation of cloud-native platforms, Internet of Things(IoT) ecosystems, financial trading systems, and interactiveweb applications, traditional synchronous request–responsearchitectures have proven insufficient. This paper presents acomprehensive survey of modern approaches to building real-time applications, focusing on event-driven architectures, reactive programming models, stream processing frameworks, edge computing and real-time communication protocols.Architectural trade-offs, performance characteristics, observability requirements, and emerging trends such as edgecomputing are analyzed using formal performance metricsand comparative evaluation. Key frameworks andmethodologies are reviewed in the context of performance, scalability, and implementation complexity.
This publication proposes a definition and a classification of agile software development approaches and analyses ten software development methods that can be characterized as being "agile" against the defined criterion.

The study shows that agile practices improve both informal and formal communication, but indicates that, in larger development situations involving multiple external stakeholders, a mismatch of adequate communication mechanisms can sometimes even hinder the communication.

The results indicate that software engineering work practices are chosen opportunistically, adapted and configured to provide value under the constrains imposed by the startup context.

The perception of the impact of agile methods is predominantly positive, and several challenge areas were discovered, but based on this study, agile methods are here to stay.
