Semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) of leptons is a vital tool for probing the three-dimensional momentum space partonic structure of the nucleon. Reliable extraction of the intrinsic collinear or transverse momentum dependent parton distributions from SIDIS data requires careful treatment of QED radiative effects beyond the Born level. In this work we perform a detailed comparative analysis of QED effects in SIDIS using the traditional Bardin-Shumeiko approach, augmented by the electron structure function method, and a more recent factorized approach that treats QED and QCD radiation on equal footing. We compare analytical and numerical results of these approaches for the unpolarized $\pi^+$ electroproduction cross sections off the proton and the Collins and Sivers transverse single-spin asymmetries, and identify the sources of discrepancies between the calculations, which for the cross sections can reach up to $\approx 2\%$, $\approx 7\%$, and $\approx 5\%$ at Jefferson Lab, HERMES, and EIC kinematics, respectively. To provide a unified approach for reliably extracting partonic information from future SIDIS measurements, we propose a hybrid framework that employs the salient features of both frameworks in their respective regions of applicability.
Unraveling the partonic origin of the proton spin requires precise determinations of polarized parton distribution functions (PDFs), which depend on comparably precise theoretical predictions for polarized scattering, particularly in view of the high-precision measurements anticipated at the future Electron-Ion Collide...

Extracting the intrinsic transverse-momentum structure of quarks from deep-inelastic scattering data requires separating nonperturbative effects from perturbative radiation, which broadens the measured transverse-momentum distributions. We address this problem in electron--proton scattering, $ep\to eX$, by introducing...
We study the Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering (SIDIS) cross-section at large values of hadron transverse momentum $P_t \gtrsim Q$, with $Q^2$ being the photon virtuality. This kinematic regime of SIDIS allows for a collinear factorization in terms of parton distribution functions (PDFs) and collinear fragmentat...

We present a phenomenological study of the longitudinal unpolarized structure function $F_{UU,L}$ in semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering (SIDIS) and its ratio with the transverse structure function, $R_{\, \rm SIDIS}=F_{UU,L}/F_{UU,T}$. We study their transverse-momentum dependence, combining for the first time lo...

We supplement McMule, a Monte Carlo framework that provides QED corrections up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in the fine structure constant $\alpha$, with the inelastic two-photon exchange (TPE) contribution, based on the data-driven dispersive calculation of Tomalak, Pasquini and Vanderhaeghen, which we exte...
We report on our study of inclusive neutral-kaon photoproduction on the deuteron, $d(\gamma,K^0)YN$, for photon energies between 0.9 and 1.1 GeV. The calculation is performed in the impulse approximation, with the deuteron wave function generated from the Bonn One-Boson-Exchange-Potential in $q$-space (OBEPQ) within a...
