Abstract
This study aimed to examine the linkages between the use of eco-friendly vehicles and the performance of supply chains of selected manufacturing firms in Southwest Nigeria. A cross-sectional survey was conducted among ten manufacturing firms, from which 395 responses were received. Eco-friendly vehicle utilisation was assessed based on the use of fossil fuel-based vehicles, utilisation policies, reasons for utilising eco-friendly vehicles, the introduction of structured programmes, and the measurement of fleet performance. The data were analysed using Pearson product-moment correlation and likelihood-ratio model fitting. The results indicated that supply chain performance was positively correlated with environmentally friendly vehicle utilisation, with the strongest association with delivery efficiency observed for fleet performance measurement (r = 0.870). Furthermore, delivery efficiency (r = 0.731) and environmental sustainability (r = 0.753) showed strong positive correlations with eco-friendly fleet size. The model was statistically significant (chi-square = 84.701, df = 12, p < 0.001). The results suggest that the adoption of eco-friendly vehicles can be more strongly linked with supply chain performance when their introduction is supported by policy, structured programmes, route and energy data, and the measurement of service and environmental performance. A key contribution of the study is the simultaneous consideration of fleet adoption, governance, implementation, and measurement within an empirical model of manufacturing supply chains in Southwest Nigeria.
A high initial investment in acquiring environmentally friendly products can discourage
institutions from adopting them. This study explored the extent to which eco-friendly products
contribute to supply chain resilience and operational performance at the Nigerian Maritime
University. The study employed a quantitative survey method administering a sample of 303copies
questionnaire to the staff of the organization using a stratified sampling technique. The hypotheses
were tested and analyzed using a regression method with the aid of Minitab software. The
regression analysis indicates eco-friendly products significantly relates to operational efficiency
in Nigerian Maritime University, South-South Nigeria. The model regression indicates (R² = 99.20,
B = 1.039, β = 0.0162, p = 0.000); indicating that the model is a good fit. The coefficient 1.0399
is highly significant (p < 0.001). This indicates a positive and strong effect, explaining that for
every one-unit increase in eco-friendly products, the operational efficiency increases by
approximately 1.039 units. The NOVA result confirms F = 4117.07, p < 0.001. The study
concludes that the adoption of eco-friendly products plays a significant and positive role in
enhancing organizational sustainability performance or resilience. Organizations should embed
eco-friendly product selection into their procurement guidelines to promote sustainable
operations. Management should invest in environmentally friendly technologies and capacity
building initiatives to support the transition to sustainable practices.

Green supply chain management (GSCM) has become a strategic requirement for industrial firms seeking to reduce environmental harm while improving long-term sustainability performance. Despite growing interest in green procurement, eco-design, green manufacturing, and green distribution, limited empirical evidence explains how these practices are converted into sustainability performance through collaborative environmental action in the Sultanate of Oman. Guided by the Natural Resource-Based View, this study examines the effects of four GSCM practices on environmental collaboration and investigates the mediating role of environmental collaboration in the relationship between GSCM practices and sustainability performance. A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted among procurement, manufacturing, logistics, and supply chain professionals working in Omani industries. From 520 questionnaires distributed, 342 valid responses were retained for analysis. The data were analyzed using Smart PLS 4.0 and partial least squares structural equation modelling. The measurement model demonstrated acceptable reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity. The structural results show that eco-design, green procurement, green manufacturing, and green distribution have significant positive effects on environmental collaboration. Environmental collaboration, in turn, has a strong positive effect on sustainability performance. The indirect effects also support the mediation of the relationships between the GSCM practices and the sustainability performance, confirming the mediation chain. The results indicated that green practices are not enough; they have to be integrated with the collaboration of suppliers, customers, logistics and other functions within the company to make green practices produce results in terms of performance. The study adds to GSCM and sustainability literature by providing a relational mechanism that determines the contribution of green practices to the industrial sustainability of the Oman context.

The growing demand for sustainability in manufacturing and the inefficiencies of traditional methods in the supply chain highlight the importance of finding smarter solutions. Even with the growing availability of digital tools and AI technologies, organizations are yet to fully utilize them to aid sustainability efforts, causing inefficient use of resources, waste, and environmental damage. The chapter examined AI supply chains optimizing for sustainability: evidence from Nigeria manufacturing industry. The chapter utilized a survey research design with a population of 950 supply chain employees in Nigerian Breweries, Lagos State, with an estimated sample size of 281 using the Yamane (1967) formula. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data in SPSS version 27. The findings showed that AI-driven demand forecasting (coefficient = 4.287) and AI-based inventory optimization (coefficient = 3.549) have a positive significant on sustainability, with 56.7% of the variance in sustainability outcomes. The chapter concluded that AI-driven supply chain optimization plays a significant role in minimizing waste, optimizing resources, and meeting market demand. The study recommended that Nigerian Breweries should utilize AI-powered demand forecasting tools for production planning and should implement AI-based inventory optimization systems to ensure that inventory levels are optimized and reducing excess stock.

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of green supply chain management on organizational sustainability, where technology innovation and environmental performance are taken as mediating factors. The focus of this study was on the increasing need for better protection of the environment and the increasing demands of the sustainable development of industries, especially in developing countries, where there are limited empirical data available on sustainability activities. The collected sample comprised 387 managers and technologists from Libyan manufacturing companies using a survey instrument and a stratified random sampling technique. Validity scales were used, and the measurements were done using the five-point Likert scale. The data analysis involved the use of PLS-SEM, where SmartPLS 4.0 was used. It entailed the analysis of the measurement model as well as the structural model, with the bootstrapping being done for 5000 samples. The findings show that GSCM significantly affects the OS. Specifically, it has a positive impact on environmental performance (EP) and technological innovation (TI), which, in turn, enhance the OS. Among the mediating factors, the EP was found to be the strongest predictor and mediator of the OS, followed by TI. The developed model proved to have a high explanatory power, with a coefficient of determination (R2) of 0.660. Thus, the integration of GSCM with innovation and environmental activities can lead to the successful achievement of sustainability objectives among manufacturing enterprises. The study’s limitations are associated with its cross-sectional design and its focus on managers. Future research could employ longitudinal designs and examine other contexts, such as digital transformation, the institutional environment, and the organizational culture.

This study examines the role of green logistics in enhancing international competitiveness within agro-export supply chains, focusing on oregano-exporting firms in Tacna, Peru. In the context of increasing global pressure for sustainable production and environmentally responsible trade, green logistics has emerged as a strategic driver of both environmental performance and market competitiveness. A quantitative, applied, and correlational research design was employed, using a census sample of 20 exporting firms. Data were collected through structured Likert-scale questionnaires assessing key dimensions of green logistics—green transportation, sustainable storage and distribution, eco-friendly packaging, and reverse logistics—as well as international competitiveness, measured through productivity, innovation, product quality, and export capacity. Statistical analyses included descriptive and inferential techniques to evaluate the relationship between sustainability practices and export performance. The findings reveal a strong and statistically significant positive relationship between green logistics implementation and international competitiveness (r = 0.71,

< 0.01). Among the dimensions analyzed, eco-friendly packaging and transportation efficiency showed the strongest influence on competitive performance, particularly in terms of product differentiation and market access. However, reverse logistics remains underdeveloped, highlighting structural challenges in the adoption of circular economy practices within the sector. From a theoretical perspective, the study integrates the Resource-Based View, Institutional Theory, and Green Supply Chain Management frameworks to explain how sustainability-oriented logistics capabilities function as strategic resources in international trade. Practically, the results provide actionable insights for firms seeking to improve operational efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and comply with international sustainability standards. This research contributes to the literature by providing empirical evidence from an underexplored agro-export context in a developing economy and by proposing a Green Logistics Integration Model (MILV-Competitiva) aligned with sustainable supply chain principles. The findings also support the relevance of sustainability-driven strategies in achieving competitive advantage and advancing progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to responsible production and climate action.

This study presents a sustainable supply chain model for bioethanol production, an area of Türkiye’s renewable energy sector in which commercial initiatives have not yet been established. Two scenarios were evaluated: bioethanol from agricultural residues and industrial waste gases. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was performed, and the most suitable plant location was identified using the Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method. A Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model was applied in GAMS to optimize cost, logistics, and environmental performance. Findings reveal that bioethanol production from industrial waste gases yields significantly lower CO₂ emissions than production from agricultural residues. It has been determined that production costs constitute the largest share of total system costs, and that logistics and warehouse allocation decisions play a significant role in system costs and supply chain structure. Conversely, the impact of efficiency improvements on total costs was found to be limited. Sensitivity analysis indicates that increased capacity and demand drive cost escalation, underscoring the importance of logistics planning. This study offers region-specific insights into Türkiye’s developing renewable energy supply chains, demonstrating that companies can enhance cost efficiency, reduce emissions, and align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), providing both scholarly and practical contributions to sustainable energy transition strategies.
