FUZZY LOGIC IN VEHICLE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS: FORMULATION AND NUMERICAL COMPARISON

Sep 2026 · Far East Journal of Mathematical Sciences (FJMS) · 0 citations

Abstract

Suspension systems are crucial for vehicle stability, ensuring safety and driving comfort. This study adopts an in-depth analytical approach to explore the intersection of fuzzy logic and suspension systems, aiming to transform them from rigid mechanical entities into intelligent, adaptive systems. The research methodology is based on formulating a ‘fuzzy picture’ of the system using fractional differential equations that integrate the fuzzy variables (damping and stiffness) within operational timescales. This is followed by numerical simulations of mathematically solved examples using appropriate mathematical methods. Comparative results demonstrate that the Fuzzy Active Suspension System (Fuzzy ASS) provides the vehicle with superior flexibility and efficiency in handling various road conditions. Intelligent control successfully reduced the instantaneous vibration amplitude from 4.3 cm to 2.8 cm, confirming the system’s ability to isolate disturbances and achieve exceptional instantaneous stability during driving.
